Participate in the PRISM-BP research study at UAB, investigating whether sharing personalized genetic risk scores can help people better control blood pressure. In this study, participants will attend 7 visits over 12 months. The study involves health checks, blood tests, urine samples, activity tracking, and wearing a 24-hour blood pressure monitor. Some participants will also receive their genetic risk score with counseling. Eligible participants must be 18–55 years old, have high blood pressure, and have no history of serious heart or kidney problems. Women cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding. Eligible participants must be healthy adults (BMI less than 45 kg/m2) and have no history of diabetes, heart problems, or kidney problems. The study involves consuming prepared meals, performing exercise on a treadmill, undergoing a glucose test, and collecting blood, urine samples, and collection of genetic information. Are you between the ages of 18-60? The UAB Office of Psychiatric Research is actively recruiting participants for our studies and wants to connect with you on our research! Whether you are needing someone to talk to, or even have no history of mental health conditions and are just wanting to further knowledge within the medical and mental health field, we would love to get you involved!Our studies can be broken down into two different categories:1) TREATMENT STUDIES – Our Treatment Studies are designed to evaluate the effectiveness of new antidepressants on individuals living with Major Depressive Disorder or Treatment-Resistant Depression.2) NON-TREATMENT STUDIES – Our Non-Treatment Studies do NOT involve testing a new medication or intervention. Self-identified minority couples age 18-50 (1 female with cervix and 1 fertile male) needed. The purpose of the Post Coital DNA Recovery Study is to determine timing for DNA detection, potentially helping rape victims. Call 205-996-0183, 9am-4pm M-F for screening questions or leave message. Eligible males: $50 for 1 collection; eligible females: $250 for 4 collections.
