You may be eligible to participate in a research study led by UAB Pediatrics. Babies typically receive four doses of the pneumococcal vaccine at 2, 4, 6, and about 12 months of age to help protect against infections such as ear infections, sinus infections, pneumonia, bacteremia (blood infection), and meningitis. This study is designed to learn more about an updated version of the pneumococcal vaccine that covers additional types of pneumococcal bacteria. Participants will receive either the updated vaccine or the current vaccine that is already approved and in use. ✅ No blood draws are required ✅ Compensation is provided for your time If you’re interested or would like to learn more, please contact Misty or Sama at 205-638-2629 or email shalima@uabmc.edu or mlpurser@uabmc.edu.
The Alabama Vaccine Research Clinic (AVRC) at UAB is seeking healthy adults ages 18 to 65 to take part in a national HIV prevention study. This Phase 2 clinical trial is testing the safety and potential benefits of three investigational monoclonal antibodies—lab-made proteins that may help the body block HIV. These antibodies are given by IV infusion, not as a shot or vaccine, and participants are never exposed to HIV. Those who qualify will receive two infusions over six months, followed by routine clinic visits for up to one year. Participants will receive compensation for their time and effort. To learn more, call 205-934-7492, email avrc@uabmc.edu.
Study Information: Are you 18-60 years of age living with HIV, and want to be a part of a vaccine study? Is your viral load suppressed/undetectable? Are you able to receive a vaccine? Are you generally healthy? Are you willing to temporarily stop taking antiretrovirals? You may qualify for a study looking at testing an experimental HIV vaccine with an experimental adjuvant to see how the immune responses change among participants who do an antiretroviral analytical treatment interruption (ATI) compared to those who do not. Compensation at each study visit will be provided for time and travel. Transportation services are also available upon request. If interested, please email sspaulding@uabmc.edu.
