How can you apply the new UAB Shared Values in your work? That is the subject of a new series from UAB Human Resources Learning & Development. Each virtual session will feature guest speakers from across campus. Provost Janet Woodruff-Borden, Ph.D., will lead the first session on collaboration at 11 a.m. Feb. 18.
Developed as part of UAB’s Forging Ahead strategic plan and informed by the Campus Engagement Survey, the values — Collaborate, Act with integrity, Respect all and Excel — should “influence the decisions we make, the way we work and how we treat others,” said President Ray Watts.

Through an internship with UAB HR Talent Acquisition, Birmingham City Schools student Jaykease Rosales gained skills and experience and proved to be a strong asset to UAB’s employee recruitment and retention efforts.
Patients at 29 hospitals and free-standing emergency rooms around the state are now being evaluated rapidly for suspected strokes and other conditions by expert UAB neurologists. The program has provided nearly 7,000 consults for patients — many of whom are routed to potentially lifesaving care or saved from expensive transfers away from their home communities.
Following a deliberate and inclusive process, UAB has launched its new strategic plan — Forging Ahead. President Ray Watts thanks everyone who contributed to the process that began in early 2022.
