HRPP Training Matrix

The HRPP Training Matrix provides a comprehensive overview of required IRB and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training, including current versus legacy courses, training applicability, and renewal expectations. This resource is designed to help investigators and research staff quickly identify the appropriate training requirements based on their role and study type, ensuring compliance and minimizing delays in IRB submissions.

Registration for CITI Courses

YOU must SELECT the appropriate course from the CITI Curriculum! ​

• To access CITI, click on the link here.
• Click Select Your Organization Affiliation.

• Type and select University of Alabama, Birmingham (note the comma between Alabama and Birmingham) in the first option.

• Check the boxes to agree to the Terms of Service and affirm your affiliation. Click “Create a CITI Program account.”

• If you are a Children’s of Alabama employee, use your Children’s employee email address as your CITI email address.
• Once you have completed CITI registration, you will be routed to the My Courses.

• Scroll down to Learner Tools for University of Alabama, Birmingham and select Add Course.

• If you are taking the Human Subjects Research training below, you can check Yes.

For IRB Initial Training, select the checkbox for either IRB Training - Biomedical or IRB Training - Social and Behavioral:

For IRB refresher training, select the checkbox for either IRB Refresher Training – Biomedical or IRB Refresher Training – Social, Behavioral, or Educational:

For Good Clinical Practices (GCP) Initial Training, select the checkbox for CITI Good Clinical Practice:

For GCP refresher training, select the checkbox for Good Clinical Practices (GCP) Refresher Course:

• At the bottom of the page, click Next.

• The selected course will appear as a course option under My Courses. Click on the name of the course to begin.

• After completing the course, UAB HRPP will be automatically notified, and your training will appear in 24 hours.
• Make sure your primary email address is your UAB email address.
