Matt Ronning brings more than 35 years of experience in fraud examination and research integrity leadership. He has served as Research Integrity Officer at multiple universities and has built a progressive career in research administration, holding both operational and leadership roles. Throughout his career, he has supported faculty, researchers, and institutional leaders in navigating complex intellectual, regulatory, and administrative challenges that can impede research success.
Matt Ronning currently serves as Director of Research Integrity Assurance and is appointed by the Institutional Official as a Research Integrity Officer at UAB. In this role, he leads the procedural review and adjudication of research misconduct allegations, working with assessment, inquiry, and investigation committees as well as complainants, witnesses, respondents, journals, and sponsors. He is also leading efforts to strengthen UAB’s Responsible Conduct of Research training, advance research data management practices, and promote integrity tools such as Proofig AI, iThenticate, and RefGuard to help authors and investigators identify potential issues before publication.
