Salesforce + Education Cloud
Salesforce is a suite of digital tools used by UAB to more effectively communicate and engage with prospective students, enrolled students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other key constituents.
Salesforce allows UAB to track all of the relationships and interactions a contact has with the university by capturing touch points of the entire lifecycle of students and employees for a “connected campus” resulting in data-driven strategy, automation, and decisions. Salesforce also allows UAB to automate communication touch-points across the life-cycle of a constituent.
The goal is to connect insights across recruitment & admissions, student experience, advancement, institutional operations, and marketing for a 360-degree view of every UAB contact.
UAB uses Salesforce’s Education Data Architecture built on Education Cloud.
Salesforce is currently used for:
- Salesforce Core CRM (engagement & activity tracking)
- Salesforce Events (event management & registration)
- Salesforce Service Cloud (cases & support tickets)
- Undergraduate Admissions
- Graduate Admissions
- Marketing & Communications
Salesforce CRM
Salesforce is a cloud-based CRM (Constituent Relationship Management) system used by UAB to track engagements with UAB constituents.
UAB uses Salesforce primarily for Recruiting & Admissions and Marketing & Communications currently. However, Salesforce has a variety of use cases in Higher Education.
Salesforce Marketing Cloud
Salesforce Marketing Cloud is UAB’s enterprise Marketing Automation Software and is used for basic newsletters all the way to prospective student campaigns. Salesforce Marketing Cloud is an email distribution service that includes analytics, complex reporting, and design templates with strong mobile support.
UAB units that wish to do email communications both externally and internally should use Salesforce Marketing Cloud. Outside email services such as Emma, Constant Contact, MailChimp, etc are not allowed to be used.
All emails must follow the UAB Mass Email Communications Policy.
