Journal Club Spring 2020

The Nathan Shock Center Journal Club in the basic biology of aging serves as a forum for faculty, post-doctoral fellows, and students with research focus on fundamental mechanisms of aging and aging-related disorders to promote inter-disciplinary exchange of ideas and methodologies, and foster collaborations. We particularly encourage presentations by trainees.

Meeting Time: Every other Thursday, 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., starting from January 16, 2020.

To All Graduate Students

UAB NSC Journal Club is a credited course, BY 618/718: Colloquium in Biology of Aging.

This course focuses on discussion and review of journal articles, research data, and grants ideas. A wide range of faculty and fellows in the field of aging from across campus participate in this journal club, contributing to leading the scientific discussions along with Dr. Sun. The course will help students develop competency in several areas: fundamental understanding of modern research topics, critical evaluation of research findings, and oral presentation skills. The requirement for each student is to give an oral presentation on one of the following:

  1. paper of interest for the NSC community in a journal club style;
  2. research data;
  3. research proposal.
