Baird picDr. Jessica Baird is a post-doctoral fellow in the Exercise Neuroscience Research Lab, as well as a NIH T32 post-doctoral trainee in Pathobiology and Rehabilitation Medicine through the University of Alabama at Birmingham Center for Exercise Medicine. She recently completed her doctorate in Exercise Science at the University of South Carolina with a specialization in Rehabilitation Science. Her doctoral thesis examined the effect of acute exercise on motor learning and brain-derived neurotrophic factor. At UAB, her primary research interest is using structural and functional neuroimaging as a tool to examine the effects of physical activity, physical fitness, and exercise on mobility and cognition in persons with multiple sclerosis. In her spare time, Jessica enjoys spending time outdoors, reading historical fiction (particularly novels set during WWII), and sampling the latest concoctions from local breweries.
