Graduate Certificate in Low Vision Rehabilitation

MS Occupational Therapy 2The Graduate Certificate in Low Vision Rehabilitation at UAB is a practice oriented certificate degree program that prepares occupational therapists to provide comprehensive, competent intervention to adults with visual impairment from age-related eye diseases and brain injury.

The five-class program is designed for occupational therapists already working in low vision rehabilitation; those interested in starting low vision rehabilitation programs; and those just interested in expanding their practice skills. The program's flexible web-based distance format allows occupational therapists across the United States and other English speaking countries to obtain these skills while working full time and balancing other commitments. Offered Completely Online

This program offers all courses completely online. The only on-campus requirement is a two-day intensive seminar during the final semester in preparation for graduation.

Certifications and Licensures

Graduates from this program may qualify for accelerated pathways to credentials from the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation & Education Professionals (ACVREP). Learn more about the accelerated pathways.

Admissions Requirements

Students entering this program must have a degree in occupational therapy from an accredited university program.

International Requirements:
International students from non-English speaking countries are required to submit a transcript evaluation from World Education Services, Educational Credential Evaluators, or Josef Silny and Associates, Inc.

The Graduate School now monitors English proficiency to make sure applicants meet our minimum scores which are listed below:

  • IELTS: 6.5
  • TOEFL: 80
  • PTEA: 53
