Excellence in Business webExcellence in Business winners: Kayce Dover, Kerri Bailey, Courtney Duff-Harrison and Elizabeth Klein (accepting for Dale Yake)The School of Health Professions had four alumni named UAB Excellence in Business winners for 2016. This year's SHP winners are: Kerri Bailey, Kayce Dover, Courtney Duff-Harrison and Dale Yake.

Kerri Bailey, B.S. in Occupational Therapy


Bailey is co-founder and managing partner of Child'sPlay Therapy Center. It is a multi-disciplinary pediatric therapy clinic co-owned by Bailey, an occupational therapist, and Deborah Boswell, a speech therapist. Child'sPlay provides occupational, physical and speech therapy services to children from birth through teens. In addition, the company offers a variety of special programs including Focal Point (treatment for ADD/ADHD), Orton-Gillingham reading therapy, and a variety of summer camps and social skills groups.

Kayce Dover, B.S. in Health Information Management, M.S. in Health Informatics


Dover is president and CEO of HIM Connections, LLC. It is an expert recruitment and staffing firm headquartered in Birmingham. HIM Connections provides services to healthcare organizations nationwide and specializes in Health Information Management and Health Information Technology. The HIM Connections team brings healthcare experience and knowledge to the recruitment and staffing industry, giving them the keen ability to understand the specific needs of their clients and candidates. In 2015, Dover was featured in the School of Health Professions Alumni Spotlight Series.

Excellence in BusinessCourtney Duff-Harrison, M.S. in Occupational Therapy


Duff-Harrison is owner of West Alabama Therapy, LLC. It provides physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy services to school systems, hospitals and long-term care facilities. The therapists provide specialized services to children and adults with disabilities and special health care needs. The mission of West Alabama Therapy is to provide quality patient care to all individuals and communities they serve. Their vision is to become a global model for the delivery of physical, occupational and speech therapy services.

Dale Yake, M.S. in Physical Therapy


Yake is owner of PT Solutions Physical Therapy. It is a private rehabilitation company with 95 locations in eight states. PT Solutions provides physical, occupational and pediatric therapy, as well as speech language pathology, athletic training and wellness services. PT Solutions' growth can be attributed to exceeding expectations of employees and patients through providing evidence based training and patient based value care. In 2014, Yake won the School of Health Professions Distinguished Alumni Award.

Our 2013 winners were Lynn Elgin (MSHA - Residential) The Clarus Consulting Group, Inc.; Steve Foster (PT), TherapySouth; Brett Jovanovich (MSHA - Executive), Lifeguard Ambulance Service, LLC; and Ian McFadden (MSHA - Residential), Methodist Hospital.

Each year the UAB National Alumni Society has handed out the awards to celebrate the success of alumni business leaders. To be considered, each company must have been founded, owned, or managed (most senior leadership team or regional/division leadership team) by a UAB alumnus/alumna.

This year's UAB Excellence in Business Top 25 ceremony was held on Friday, June 24, 2016, at the UAB Alumni Society House.
