Welcome. UAB’s Department of Nutrition Sciences is thrilled to be able to provide innovative Continuing Professional Education Units (CPEUs) to our nationwide network of preceptors, alumni, and affiliates. All of our CPEU opportunities are developed by a team of Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) educators and advanced practice practitioners to ensure the most enriching, science-based learning experience for our viewers.

Continuing Professional Education is required to update or enhance knowledge and skills beyond entry-level practice for proficient performance in nutrition and dietetics practice throughout ones career. UAB’s Department of Nutrition Sciences is excited to offer education opportunities for the advanced evidence-based practice of our affiliates, including the preceptors of our Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) programs. As a “Thank you!” to our preceptors, all of our CPEU offerings are FREE to UAB preceptors!

To assist in selecting the appropriate CPEU activity, the level of each activity is identified within each description. The levels are as follows:

  • Level I
Assumes that the participant has little or no prior knowledge of the area(s) covered. The focus of the activity is to increase the core knowledge of the participant.
  • Level II
Assumes that the participant has general knowledge of the literature and professional practice within the area(s) covered. The focus of the activity is to enhance knowledge and application of the participant.
  • Level III
Assumes that the participant has thorough knowledge of the literature and professional practice within the area(s) covered. The focus of the activity is synthesis of recent advances and future directions.

Accreditation

UAB’s Department of Nutrition Sciences is a Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Accredited provider with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
