Hoover Met COVID Vaccine SimOn February 1, COVID-19 vaccine simulations were hosted in the Hoover Metropolitan Complex parking lot. The purpose of the simulations was to test the process and the flow of local area residents and patients who will receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the UAB Hoover Met vaccination site. Participants went through a simulated vaccination process that included: site entry, queue, registration, vaccination administration, a 15 minute observation, and site exit. Simulated patients during the sim went through the 10-lane vaccination site in their vehicles. This allowed testing of the full-scale flow and each process in administering the vaccine. The simulations allowed the team to gather feedback and operational opportunities. The findings and lessons learned have already been incorporated into this tremendous effort for our community as well as the Parker High School vaccination site.
