This course provides an introduction to and overview of key areas in environmental health. Drawing on perspectives from experts in the field, this seminar course explores the interaction between human health and the environment, the impacts of environmental agents, and the role of environmental health within the broader public health framework. Students will be introduced to core “tools of the trade,” including environmental epidemiology, toxicology, and their application to environmental policy and regulation. The course examines environmental agents of disease and primary focus areas such as water and air quality, waste management, and occupational health, while also addressing critical topics including environmental justice, sustainability, One Health and climate-change in real-world public health contexts.
