5 UAB Sustainability Food and Dining Initiatives, including replacing 250,000 plastic straws in 2 1/2 months
This past Fall, most UAB Dining Services vendors replaced their plastic straws with eco-friendly products, while also encouraging students to reduce their use of straws. According to a UAB survey, in the first two and half months, over 250,000 plastic straws were replaced.

Richard Ellison receives Governor’s Committee Collaboration Award
Sodexo Human Resources Manager at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Richard Ellison, was selected by the Birmingham Area Governor’s Committee (BAGC) to receive the highly distinguished Collaboration Award on October 19, 2018.

The Division’s Strategic Innovation Grant winner is named, applicants are applauded
In the second year of the Strategic Innovation Grant, the Division of Student Affairs received 10 Strategic Innovation Grant applications. In the first review of applications, three applications were chosen for presentation: GyneWellness, Family Engagement as a Strategy for Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention, and Second Year International Alternative Break.

Walk It Out with Campus Recreation on Wednesdays in Nov.
On Nov. 1 Campus Recreation launched its Quest for 2,000 Walk it Out Program. All UAB Employees and all active UAB Campus Recreation members (both students and non-student members) can participate through Nov. 30 and be eligible to earn points towards their Quest for 2,000-Member Rewards Program.
