Purpose

 

The UAB Technology Alignment and Collaboration Committee (TACC) is charged with supporting One UAB by promoting secure, compliant, and efficient IT solutions that minimize duplication while respecting the distinct needs of clinical, academic, and research enterprises. The committee will do this by identifying and unifying technology strategies, fostering collaboration across the health system and university, leveraging collective buying power to optimize technology investments and improve outcomes in a secure and compliant way.

Streamline Collaboration and Data Access

Unify the Collaboration Experience

Explore best method to provide a unified experience for email/calendaring/teams under Office 365 with federation capabilities to support consistent and secure communication and collaboration across all units and allow for collaboration with other institutions.

Build a Sustainable Data Ecosystem

Unified File Sharing

Standardize the use of Box and OneDrive for document management to ensure compliance, simplify workflows, and enable real-time collaboration.

Cultivate a Data-Informed Culture

Sustainable IT Governance

Establish a framework for joint planning and decision-making that respects the distinct needs of academic, research, and clinical units.
Review and align technological needs from both the health system and university perspectives.

Coordinate and standardize technology and software purchases and renewals to increase negotiating power.
Track and report cost savings, productivity gains, and customer satisfaction from unified efforts.

    UAB campus and UAB Medicine users will soon be able to communicate more easily with each other over Microsoft Teams, a first step toward improved collaboration as part of a campus-wide technology initiative: the Technology Alignment and Collaboration Committee, or TACC.
