Benevolent Fund 2012 Campaign!

The UAB Benevolent Fund 2012 Campaign is officially underway and runs through April 30. To view this year's campaign video featuring Jaquita and David Davis please click here.

The campaign is an annual effort to raise money to fund social service programs serving the community in which we live and work. The UAB Benevolent Fund supports UAB employees through the Employee Emergency Assistance Program (EEAP) and helps the larger community through support of non-profit agencies through the United Way, local health agencies and independent agency grants. Employees are asked to make tax deductible donations to the Fund. Continuous gifts from employees through payroll deductions provide support year round. One time gifts through cash, check or payroll deduction also help support the funds charitable efforts. Every gift makes a difference.

Following the April 2011 tornadoes, the Benevolent Fund met with UAB administrators to discuss how best to respond to this unprecedented need. The result was a designated fund for UAB employees and students. Over $137,000 in direct assistance was provided to 157 employees and students impacted by the April 2011 and January 2012 tornadoes. Jacquita and David Davis II, UAB employees, lost their home and both cars in the tornado. The Benevolent Fund was able to offer them financial assistance just days after the tornado to help them start the recovery and rebuilding process.
