Career: Associate Professor of Nursing, UABDr. Wheeler is an Associate Professor in the UAB School of Nursing, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Psychology. After completing her PhD in Developmental Psychology from UAB in 2012, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at UC San Diego until 2015 when she returned to UAB. Dr. Wheeler's work, funded by the National Institute on Aging, is focused on promoting successful cognitive aging across diverse health disparities populations including people with HIV and African American/Black persons living in the Deep South. Dr. Wheeler teaches courses in the UAB SON Doctoral Program and mentors students, postdocs, and junior faculty within and outside of UAB.
