Biography

Todd Peterson MD is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine. He completed medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 2006. After completing an internship in internal medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond Virginia, he completed an Emergency Medicine Residency at UAB in 2010, where he was a Chief Resident. After residency he joined the core educational faculty at UAB. He has since completed the ACEP Teaching fellowship and multiple courses in medical simulation.

As a faculty member he has focused on medical education. He served as Assistant Residency Director from 2012-2018, and has served as Chair of the EM residency Clinical Competency Committee and Chair of the Residency Education Track. He served as Medical Student Clerkship Director from 2011-2018. He is a member of the School of Medicine Medical Education Committee, and has served as a Clinical Skills Scholar and Lead Mentor in the Heersink School of Medicine Learning Communities. Since 2014 he has served as Director of Medical Student Simulation. In 2018 he has appointed Assistant Dean for Students.
