Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) is a social justice approach in which academics and community members form an equal partnership to solve a problem that minoritized and disadvantaged community members identify. This approach has been repeatedly proven to reduce health disparities and contribute to health equity.

During the week long intensive training learners will gain insight into:

  • Privilege and disadvantage and Egalitarian versus hierarchical relationships

  • Essential differences between CBPR and other research approaches and Social justice aspects of CBPR

  • How to partner with communities equally and respectfully and How to establish and maintain trust

  • How to develop and partner with Community Advisory Groups throughout the entire process

  • The principles and practice of focus groups and How to analyze qualitative data

Trainees will gain access to information regarding future funding and mentoring opportunities. 

Audience

This training is designed for researchers, clinicians, educators, and/or healthcare administrators who are committed to health equity.
