The OFD is committed to fostering the professional development of our faculty as educators.
4th Fridays Series
Monthly focused faculty development training, presented on the 4th Friday of every month, January - October, from noon - 1 PM. Meets in the Bradley Lecture Center, unless otherwise announced.
Research
The Pediatric Research Office (PRO) provides assistance to investigators conducting pediatric research at Children’s of Alabama at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
Service
Excellence in service is marked by productivity, leadership, and scholarship in clinical care as well as leadership in professional and lay communities.
Promotion & Tenure
Faculty member contributions to activities in the areas of research, teaching, and service are evaluated for promotion and tenure. All faculty members are expected to be engaged in scholarly activities that support the areas of research, teaching, and service in ways that are consistent with their unique roles.

Leadership Development
The goal of the Pediatrics OFD Leadership Development Program is to strengthen our cadre of teaching faculty and support the development, implementation, and evaluation of innovative curricula designed to improve pediatric graduate medical education while integrating training in culturally competent and family-centered care.

UAB Faculty & Staff Learning System
The UAB Faculty & Staff Learning System enables employees to register for classroom training, complete online courses, browse your training history, and more. The system offers a wide array of online training tools and resources 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For UAB Medicine employees, the system is previously known as HealthStream.
