DoubleTree Hotel in Birmingham:
Reservations by phone may be made by calling direct at (205) 933-9000 or by calling the national toll free
number at (800) 222-TREE.Birmingham DoubleTree Make sure to identify yourself as attending the UAB Southeast Regional Yeast Meeting (UAB/SER) to receive the meeting rate.
You can also register online at the DoubleTree website. The group reservation code is SER.
The DoubleTree rates for the meeting will be $99.00 per night for a double room (does not include applicable taxes). These rates will be good through February 14, 2013. The DoubleTree is located only a few blocks from the meeting facility. See the map below for more details. It is also only 2-3 blocks from Birmingham's historic Five Points South area, which is well known for a variety of dining and entertainment opportunities.
Directions from I-65 traveling North: Take I-65 North to the University Blvd exit (Exit 259). Proceed East (straight) on University Blvd (also called Eighth Avenue South) to Twentieth Street South where you will see the DoubleTree Hotel (on the right-hand side). Turn right onto Twentieth Street and immediately enter the drive for the DoubleTree lobby for hotel registration. The parking fee for registered hotel guests is $5.00 per day.
Directions from I-65 traveling South: Take I-65 South to the Fourth Avenue South Exit (Exit 259B). Proceed on Fourth Avenue South to Fourteenth Street and turn right. Go four blocks, then turn left onto University Blvd (also called Eighth Avenue South). Proceed East on University Blvd to Twentieth Street South where you will see the DoubleTree Hotel (on the right-hand side). Turn right onto Twentieth Street and immediately enter the drive for the DoubleTree lobby for hotel registration The parking fee for registered hotel guests is $5.00 per day.
Directions from I-20/59 coming from the East or West: Take the I-65 South exit and follow the instructions above for I-65 when traveling South.
Flying: the Birmingham Airport is conviently located 20 minutes from the UAB campus. You can arrange a shuttle from the DoubleTree to the Airport.
