The Program for Environmental and Translational Medicine

The Program for Environmental & Translational Medicine' s mission is to advance research, scholarship, education and clinical care in environmental medicine by providing a catalytic platform for scientists and clinicians to integrate basic science, translational research, and community outreach. This program embraces UAB's strong commitment to improve the health of the people of Birmingham and Alabama. Our goal is to lead the way in a venue for patients with diseases secondary to environmental exposures and in innovative and catalytic translational research. The program focuses on bench-to-bedside translational science to develop new approaches to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases caused or accelerated by pollution. The Environmental and Translational Medicine Program will bring together a spectrum of disciplines to address this challenge and educate the community on air, water and soil pollution and its relationship to health.
The generosity of our patients and supporters has helped us support many of our educational and research initiatives throughout the years. If you want to learn more about opportunities to contribute to UAB's Program for Environmental and Translational Medicine, please contact one of our staff members at the Department of Medicine Development Office.
