Education

The UAB Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine is passionate about mentoring and training the next generation of physician-scientists.

Our faculty provide comprehensive training programs for medical students, residents, and fellows. As a high-volume clinical practice, a fellowship at UAB Pulmonary provides trainees the opportunity to specialize in Lung Transplantation, Advanced Lung Disease, Interventional Bronchoscopy, and many other clinical specialties. Clinical programs in environmental medicine, COPD, interstitial lung disease, cystic fibrosis, mycobacterial infections, and lung cancer allow our fellows to have exposure to all aspects of pulmonary medicine.

Additionally, our division’s NIH-sponsored T-32 Training Program in Lung Biology and Translational Medicine supports 2 to 3 years of postdoctoral fellowship training. Our mission is assisting you in achieving your personal professional goals while acquiring the skills, attitudes and knowledge to function as a pulmonary and critical care physician in any setting.
