Sarcoidosis Research Gift Account

The UAB Multidisciplinary Sarcoidosis Clinic, led by Dr. Joseph Barney, works to provide a more comprehensive and collaborative effort to understand and treat sarcoidosis. Sarcoidosis, a potentially life-threatening disease, involves abnormal collections of inflammatory cells gathering in the lungs, lung-associated lymph nodes, and other solid organs. Sarcoidosis has no known cure, but treatments are being researched across the world.

Cystic Fibrosis Clinical Research Unit Steven M. Rowe Gift Account

This Gregory Fleming Cystic Fibrosis Research Center unit provides state-of-the-art cystic fibrosis research and maintains facilities for studies in cell biology, ion transport, and translational cystic fibrosis research. Interactions between the unit and its affiliated care centers link our scientists and clinicians, fostering cooperation from the laboratory to the bedside.

Pulmonary Education Fund

The UAB Pulmonary Disease & Critical Care Medicine Training Program is a blend of clinical training and academic research. We produce skilled Pulmonary Disease & Critical Care physicians. Our faculty and fellows are regularly recognized as outstanding teachers, clinicians and researchers. Our graduates possess the habits needed for growth in an academic medicine career, are competent in the performance of Pulmonary Disease & Critical Care medical procedures, and are well-trained in the methodology required for the implementation, analysis, & reporting of quality improvement processes as well as hypothesis-driven research projects.

Gary and Susan Godwin Endowed Support Fund for Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Research

The Gary and Susan Godwin Endowed Support Fund for Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Supports idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis research at UAB. This fund, created in memory of Susan Godwin’s husband Gary Godwin, provides additional resources to operate ongoing drug discovery and preclinical development research with the goal of translating findings into new treatments and cures for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

Interstitial Lung Disease Gift Account

The UAB Interstitial Lung Disease Program, led by Dr. Joao de Andrade, provides state-of-the-art evaluation and treatment for patients with Interstitial Lung Diseases (ILD). The Program strives to discover new therapies for ILD, to understand ILD mechanisms, to improve the evaluation, treatment, and follow-up standards for ILD patients, to educate physicians in training, and to enhance community awareness of ILD.
