Biography

Major Richard Betzold, M.D., FACS, is an active duty Air Force trauma surgeon with the Joint Special Operations Command. In 2021, he became a clinical assistant professor with the UAB Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery. Before coming to UAB, Betzold was a clinical assistant professor of surgery at the University of Maryland's Medical System, R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center from 2018 to 2021 and was a clinical instructor of surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center from 2017 to 2018. He attended the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences for medical school and was a surgical critical care fellow at Vanderbilt University Medical Center until 2018.
