Bhatia honored for contribution to cancer prevention with award

The award recognizes those in the medical community who have made monumental contributions to cancer prevention, control research and practice.

irector of the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Institute for Cancer Outcomes and Survivorship, is the recipient of the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology-American Cancer Society Cancer Prevention Award.

The award recognizes those in the medical community who have made monumental contributions to cancer prevention, control research and practice.

“I am humbled to be selected as the 2024 recipient of the ASCO-ACS Cancer Prevention Award,” said Bhatia, who is also vice chair of Outcomes in the UAB Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics. “Throughout my life, I have been incredibly fortunate to have wonderful mentors — I owe this recognition to them.”

Bhatia will be presented with her award in June during the ASCO annual meeting in Chicago, Illinois.
