4D CT Treatment Planning
In our effort to remain at the technological forefront of our field, we constantly seek the latest technologies available to enhance our patient care mission. One such technology is 4D CT Treatment Planning. Treatment planning is one of the essential components of the patient care process. The planning stage involves capturing images of the areas of the body to be treated, including both healthy and unhealthy tissues. The goal of the planning phase is to discern between those two tissue types and to craft a delivery plan that allows radiation delivery to only the unhealthy tissues while leaving the surrounding healthy tissues minimally affected.
Image data is gathered through a CT scan during a process known as 4D CT simulation. These images are then placed into a highly sophisticated treatment planning system, where a treatment is developed by a team of Dosimetrists, medical physicists, and physicians.
