    Some sponsors restrict the total number of grant applications submitted per institution, school, and/or discipline, commonly referred to as a “limited submission”.     The University-Wide Interdisciplinary Research Center (UWIRC) program serves to catalyze cross-cutting research and discovery, adding to the generation of new scientific knowledge and its applications to benefit society. Several UWIRCs offer competitive funding for pilot research projects, and the ORD helps coordinate a central site to identify pilot funding opportunities on campus.

  • Hanover Research
    The RDO maintains a partnership with Hanover Research to provide consultative grant support services. Hanover can assist representatives from UAB schools, divisions, departments, and centers with identifying and evaluating grant opportunities aligned to research priority areas while enabling longer-term planning through funded project research and forecasting. Activities include prospecting, funding opportunity analysis, funding activity research, and forecasting. Engagements with Hanover are available at no-cost to UAB faculty, but a referral is required; please reach out to RDO to discuss if Hanover might be right for you.
