• Women's basketball topples FAU

    The UAB women’s basketball team met conference opponent FAU at Bartow Arena on Thursday, Jan. 19. Last season, UAB narrowly fell to FAU in a 52-51 loss at home.

    The Blazers looked to come back from last season’s loss against the Owls. In the first period, FAU took the lead by four points, but by the end of the period, UAB tied up the score 13-13.

    Professors and representatives from the Undergraduate Student Government Association gathered in Hill Student Center Alumni Theater on Wednesday, Jan. 18 to continue a discussion of a proposal put forth by the Faculty Senate that would greatly reduce the number of Friday classes.     This year, UAB’s Softball team kicks off their season with new stands for the Mary Bowers Field, named in March 2016 after the late-Mary Bowers. 700 seats will be added to the stands to accommodate over a thousand fans. One addition to the stadium is the observation deck. These bleachers grant fans a view that goes from fence line to fence line, replacing the previous temporary and low-set bleachers. Read more ...
