    About:

    Ballroom Dance Society at UAB is a diverse group of undergraduate and graduate students passionate about learning ballroom dance. No experience is required! We have two classes each week: one open class and one members class. Students who join will have access to many social events and opportunities to compete with other clubs in the region, though competing is not a requirement.

  • Birmingham's Blazin' Bhangra
    Birmingham's Blazin' Bhangra

    About:

    BBB is Alabama's first competitive Bhangra dance team. We perform traditional Bhangra dance routines at various events such as Diwali and the Taste of India dance competition, both hosted by UAB. BBB also competes at many competitions nationwide.

    Blazin Belly Baddies

    About:

    We focus on encouraging individuals to learn and perform belly dance choreography. Members will explore this art form while learning the history of Raqs Baladi. Additionally, we hope to shed light and ultimately combat the social stigma that sometimes accompanies belly dancing. Our organization serves not only to create great dancers but also to empower them to be confident and capable by attending self-organized “workshops”, which would be held outside of the Rec.

    Welcome to the UAB Club Ice Hockey team! We are not a community, but a family! Our club has a variety of students who played hockey since they were three years old to students who have never touched a hockey stick. Our goal is to introduce you to hockey and help grow interest in the South. Our team consists of two groups, our E-line and D-line. The E-line consists of players who practice weekly and travel to play against other schools across the South. The D-Line consists of players who want to learn the sport, practice weekly, and still travel with the team so they can experience the fun of being part of UAB Ice Hockey. Alongside our players, we also have our Bender Club which travels with the team and assists with social media, game-day operations, and more!     Our club is a perfect mix of bodybuilding and powerlifting. We combined both aspects of these sports to better the general health of the overall student body and giving them opportunities to pursue avenues or general health and fitness.

    We are a competitive men's volleyball team that allows members to practice their skills, have fun, and compete at a high level against other college clubs. We practice two days a week and compete in tournaments on weekends throughout the fall and spring semesters. Members are selected from tryouts in the fall, but no prior experience is required.

We strive to share Indian Classical dance amongst the diverse population at UAB. Our goal is to create innovative dance routines that coach members about the diversity and benefits of Indian Classical dance. Natyam at UAB is heavily committed to promoting diversity at UAB and providing its members with opportunities to perform at competitions and philanthropic events.     Our UAB Roundnet (aka Spikeball) Club provides a fun and competitive environment to play the exciting and fun-filled sport of Roundnet with an organized team. We travel to various local tournaments and host weekly practices to build camaraderie and consistently improve at the sport. We push players to get better and to work as a team while also getting great exercise and partaking in an extremely energy-filled sport.

    The swim club is all about coming together to enjoy the sport of swimming. We focus on promoting an inclusive and fun environment for students at all levels of swimming expertise. We tend to practice 2-3 times a week, and we typically attend 2-3 competitions per semester.

    The Table Tennis Club at UAB's goals are to foster interest in table tennis, promote friendly matches between its members, and compete in tournaments. Players of all levels are welcome! We are also a member of the NCTTA, meaning every semester up to 8 of the best club members get to compete against other nearby schools and receive a national ranking.

    UAB's Tennis on Campus Club is a great way to find people to play with in your free time and to get involved playing matches against other colleges!

    Practice is usually held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm-7:30pm on the UAB tennis courts by the 16th street parking deck.

  • Start a New Club

    Don’t see a particular sport you’re interested in? Heres how you can start your own!

    Each club sport is required to have a minimum number of 10 student members and one of those members must be a designated leader/officer.

    Interest meetings may be held in order to recruit new members to join the club’s roster prior to applying for recognition.

    Develop a club constitution.

    Apply to become a new Student Organization through the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership. More information on how to become a Student Organization can be found here.

    During the Student Organization request process through Engage, select to be recoginzed as a Club Sport. Once a club is approved through University Recration and the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership through Engage, they will be considered as a active Club Sport. The club president will be contacted by URec professional to setup up a New Club Meeting.

    Registration for new organizations is available twice per year (July 1 – September 30 and December 1 – January 31).
