Poster Printing Services

Dear VSRC Members,
We have designed poster templates for you to help you to build posters for ARVO, Neuroscience, VSS, and other conferences. Please view our templates, and we would love to have your feedback. Please let us know what design you like the best, and what you think can be changed to make it better and more attractive to all conferences attendees.

The Advanced Image Analysis Module offers printing service to Vision Science Research Center, School of Optometry and related departments. Please read the following section if you need a poster to be printed.

Designing a poster, please avoid gradient, picture, texture, or any not solid backgounds. Those backgrounds cause very long delay printing the posters; all not solid backgrounds will be replaced by solid colors.

General Information

1. Two sizes of presentation quality paper are available: heavyweight, bright white paper in rolls 36 or 42-inches wide, and since it's in rolls, we can print a poster as long as you need. We can print 42''x60'', but we can't print above 42'' in both dimension.
2. We accept Microsoft PowerPoint or PDF files to print.
3. We do not make poster files; we just offer printing services. Please have the final output ready before you request printing. 
4. Have your account information ready when you request a poster. You need the 24-digit account number that can be provided to you by the PI or the administrator
5. Please allow us at least one full work day to get your poster ready. For conferences such as Neuroscience and ARVO we suggest two days in advance.
6. We are not a full-service professional print shop. If you require very large (long) posters, professional imaging, color separation or poster printing from other applications that we don't support, you may be better served by an off-site vendor.

Proof Before You Submit

We provide proofs of your poster (16" by 12") for $10. However we suggest to print your poster on a regular letter size (landscape) before you send your file to see any spelling or other basic errors.

Submitting your File for Printing

• Your document should be submitted either by email, uploaded to UAB drop box, or delivered on CD or USB Key to Alex Zotov at Computer Module azotov@uab.edu . Call 934-4167 for questions.
• While we will try to accommodate your request as soon as possible, please allow at least one full work day for the poster to be ready.

Transporting Your Poster

If you are concerned with transporting your poster, bring a 36 or 42 inch long poster tube or other form of transportation. Printed posters are susceptible to damage if mishandled. The ink we use is water-soluble and can run if exposed to water. We don't have any poster tubes at the module.

Costs (note, the prices recently changed)

For standard sizes:

56 by 42 inches -  $35 ($60 if printed on canvas)
42 by 36 inches -  $30

Surcharges:    Non-white background: $5.     Small size proof: $10/ea
