With the support of its committees, the Commission conducts activities and initiatives throughout the year designed to provide programming and opportunities for professional growth, as well as share updates about the campus climate and needs for professional growth.

Annual Clothing Drive
The CSPS hosts an annual clothing drive to collect gently used professional attire as well as weather-appropriate clothing for individuals in need. Donations support a variety of campus and community programs that provide essential clothing to students, employees, and patients. This initiative reflects CSPS’s ongoing commitment to promoting both professional success and personal well-being across the UAB community.

Community Outreach
The CSPS increases awareness of its mission by engaging with employees and other stakeholders at signature UAB events through speaking opportunities, tabling, and other outreach efforts. Members represent and promote the Commission across campus, strengthening its presence and impact within the UAB community.

Early Parenthood, Adult Care and Caregiving Support
The CSPS works in collaboration with campus partners to assess and advocate for accessible, inclusive resources that support members of the UAB community through all stages of caregiving. These efforts include pregnancy, lactation, childcare, parenting, adult care, and elder care — ensuring individuals have the support they need to balance caregiving responsibilities with their professional and academic commitments.

Mentorship
The CSPS is committed to fostering inclusive, effective, and sustainable mentorship across campus by developing best practices that support faculty and staff at all career stages. This work promotes equity, professional growth, and a cohesive UAB community.
