The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Creed Week will be held February 6-10, 2023, and will feature activities that highlight the five tenets that all UAB Blazers possess:

- Service
- Scholarship
This information serves as a guide to students interested in participating in the Community Standards & Student Accountability Blazing Decisions Scholarship. Students are invited to submit a written paper responding to a given prompt related to the Blazer Way. The deadline to enter in the Blazing Decisions Scholarship is January 29, 2023, at 11:59pm. Participants must submit their work by Monday, February 6, 2023 at 11:59 PM.
Blazing Decisions Scholarship Requirements
- 1. All submissions must be an academic quality paper
- 2. All submissions must incorporate (2) tenets of The Blazer Way (UAB’s Creed)

- Scholarship
- 3. All submissions must include (2) university resources
- 4. All participants must have a minimum 2.5 UAB cumulative GPA to participate
- 5. All participants will receive a link to upload their submissions once their Engage sign up has been approved

- 7. The competition winner will be announced February 10, 2023. The winner will receive a $500 scholarship applied to their Spring 2023 student account.
Judging Criteria:
Critical Thinking – What is the problem? What is the root cause?
Analytical Reasoning – What is a creative solution? What resources can be utilized for referral?
Effective Communication – How will the plan of action work? What are some foreseen challenges?
Ethics & Decision-Making – Does your decision-making reflect UAB values and your personal values?
