The Department of Physics has funding available for need-based and academic scholarships for each academic year. Please make sure you read the requirements and guidelines for these scholarships before submitting an application. UAB provides additional scholarship opportunities for entering freshmen and transfer students, both resident and non-resident.

The Robert and Edith Bauman Endowed Scholarship in Physics

Applicants must be currently enrolled in, or admitted to, a degree-granting program in the Department of Physics at UAB. Applicants should demonstrate academic promise and have earned at least a 3.0 grade point average in coursework completed prior to application. This is an annual award. Although preference will be given to entering first-year students, recipients of the scholarship may apply for the award in subsequent years.


NASA-Alabama Space Grant Program Scholarships

Requirements: Scholarships are available to UAB Physics students through the NASA-Alabama Space Grant Program. These scholarships may be renewed for one additional year on a competitive basis. Must be a U.S. citizen, undergraduate student (Jr./Sr. level), enrolled full-time in good academic standing with a GPA of at least 3.0 pursing any space-related field of study. Awardees are required to submit a final report to the Consortium Program Office at the end of their award period.

Number and Amount: Six $1,000 scholarships per year available


Physics Research Opportunities Scholarship

Scholarships are available for our exceptional Physics majors who are looking to enhance their UAB research experience and their CV by participating in the research labs of our Physics professors. To qualify for these scholarships, undergraduate students must be enrolled in our Modern Physics I lab course (PH 351) and have identified a physics faculty member that will act as their mentor.

The application for this scholarship is not yet available.

Evan Garrison Memorial Fund in Physics

The Evan Garrison Memorial Fund in Physics was established to honor Evan Garrison, a 2017 graduate of UAB. The fund will support scholarships for undergraduate students in the Department of Physics.
