PhD, Developmental Psychology concentration, 2017

Career: Associate Fellow, Center for Injury Research and Prevention at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia

Dr. Haley Bishop graduated from the UAB Psychology PhD program with a concentration in Developmental Psychology in 2017 under the mentorship of Dr. Despina Stavrinos. She then completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at UAB with Dr. Jessica Mirman and then accepted a position as a Research Consultant working with Dr. Allison Curry at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Center for Injury Research and Prevention. She is working with research partners at Minnesota Health Solutions to develop innovative technological solutions to improve driver and passenger safety. Several of these projects are aimed at aiding parents in correctly harnessing their children into car seats. She is also working to develop and evaluate a smartphone application to prevent distracted driving. These projects are unique in that they are testing the efficacy of products and technologies that could be in use by the general public within the next couple of years.

“It's great to know the work we are doing is so applied and will be improving safety and changing people’s lives for the better. I wouldn't be where I am without all of the skills I acquired in my time as a graduate student with Dr. Stavrinos and postdoc with Dr. Mirman at UAB. I will always be grateful for the resources and time invested in me by my UAB family. Go Blazers!”
