Clifford Kennon, EdS, MPA, CPP, Program Director of the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) Community Engagement Institute, has been recognized by the Urban League of Alabama as a Community Champion honoree.

His work with the Urban League of Alabama began in 2013 as a volunteer member of the Birmingham Urban League Young Professionals. He later joined the organization’s Board of Directors in 2018 and served as Chairman of the Board in 2022 and 2023.
In 2026, Kennon rejoined the Board of Directors to continue supporting the organization’s work to strengthen communities through education, job training, housing, community health, economic self-reliance, and quality of life.
Through his role with the CCTS Community Engagement Institute, Kennon helps foster authentic partnerships between researchers and communities, supporting shared learning, trust-building, and collaborative approaches to improving health across the region.
