What is Interprofessional Education?
“Interprofessional education occurs when two or more professions learn about, from and with each other to enable effective collaboration and improve health outcomes.” (World Health Organization, 2010)
“*Professional is an all-encompassing term that includes individuals with the knowledge and/or skills to contribute to the physical, mental and social well-being of a community.” (WHO, 2010)
Interprofessional Education at UAB:
The
Office of Interprofessional Curriculum works closely with the academic schools within the UAB system. Our aim is to provide interprofessional curricular components for students from multiple professional schools to foster attainment of competencies in the areas of communication, collaboration, teamwork and ethics (IPEC).
