Started in 2009 as part of the Geriatric Education Center this program is now administered by OIPC. Since its inception, this program has provided an Interprofessional team building experience for over 4,000 students from three institutions (UAB, Samford, and Auburn).In the Fall and Winter semester 400 + students gather for a two and a half hour activity.

Started in 2010 this program is now administered through the Center for Nursing Excellence and is based on the Nursing Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE). Since its inception this program has provided an innovative interprofessional development experience for over 80 health professionals.

The Firehouse Shelter Clinic is led by the UAB Physician Assistant Studies Program. Utilizing students from various health-related professions, this interdisciplinary student-led clinic provides medical services to homeless men in six counties in Alabama.
