Firehouse Shelter


The Firehouse Shelter Clinic is led by the UAB Physician Assistant Studies Program. Utilizing students from various health-related professions, this interdisciplinary student-led clinic provides medical services to homeless men in six counties in Alabama. Medical screenings are provided on site, every first and third Wednesday of the month. Students also present on common health-related topics during the Wellness Wednesday events, scheduled every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. In collaboration with UAB faculty, students in training are helping this population of men to play an active role in maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle.
