Important Announcement

Participate in UAB’s Virtual Commencement!

Graduates, what were your favorite things during your time at UAB? What did you enjoy most? What are you going to miss? We want to know! We'd like you to send us a short video of yourself answering any of these questions or showing us how you're celebrating while practicing social distancing. We will compile the videos to be included in a special virtual ceremony.

What is a virtual ceremony? The ceremony will be a video compilation of messages from campus leaders, student government leaders, and clips from YOU, our graduates. We want this to be a celebration of all that you've achieved during your time here at UAB. The virtual graduate (masters and doctoral students) ceremony will air on Facebook, YouTube, and IGTV Friday, May 1 at 6 p.m. The virtual undergraduate ceremony will air on these channels on Saturday, May 2 at 2 p.m.

Will I have the option to walk in a future ceremony?

Yes. However, you will need to register to walk in the future ceremony. The form will be available for students to register to walk approximately 6 weeks prior to the future ceremony date. This will be done in the same way that students registered to walk previously under the "To-Do" list section of the applicable semester's ceremony.

If I am not able to walk in a future ceremony, can I get a refund on my regalia purchase?

Yes. Please visit

Will I still receive a program with my name, degree and hometown?

Yes. We are preparing a digital program (PDF) that will be made available online.

Will I still receive my diploma?

Yes. Diplomas are mailed out from the Registrar’s office 6-8 weeks after final grades are submitted (May 4). Please make sure that your mailing address is correct in BlazerNet. Do not use your temporary (on-campus or local address but your permanent address).

When I applied to graduate, I paid a $50 fee. Will this be refunded since the ceremony is now online?
