The news block pulls content in from a specific category or multiple categories, a specific tag or multiple tags, or a combination of both categories and tag. The news block layouts are designed to be used on homepages.
How to use
- Layout
- Choose a layout for the module. Options include:
- Feature Layout
- Horizontal Layout - 1 Row
- Horizontal Layout - 2 Rows
- Vertical Layout
- Feature + 3 Layout (available for Reporters only)
- Heading
- Decide whether to display a heading. If enabled, select a color for the swatch that will appear before the heading (this option is not available in the Feature + 3 Layout). Then, enter the text for the heading.
- Category/Tags
- Articles can be filtered by categories, tags, or a combination of both. Follow these steps:
- Select one or more categories, or leave blank if you’re not using categories.
- If you choose a parent category that has sub-categories, enable the option to show articles from child categories, and specify how many levels of sub-categories should be included.
- Select one or more tags, or leave blank if you’re not using tags.
- Category
- Choose whether to display the category of each article next to the publication date. You can either show or hide the category label.
- Read More
- If you want to provide a link to additional content, enable the "Read More" option. Then, set the link text and enter the URL for the link.
- Article Order
- Select the order in which you want the articles displayed and the order direction. The typical order is by Publication Date and Descending (Z to A, Newest First)
- Joomla Featured Article Filtering
- Toggle this on if you want to 'only show Joomla Featured Articles' or 'exlude all Joomla Featured Articles'.)
