Show your support for Go Red for Women Day 2020 at UAB!

On Friday, February 7, bring out your red shoes, dress, shirt, pants, jewelry, etc. and raise awareness about preventing heart disease, the number one killer of women. 4 ways to stay heart healthy throughout the month of February...

1. Get your heart pumping

Like any muscle, an active lifestyle helps keep your heart strong and healthy. Stay active on campus by hitting the UAB Walking Trails on your lunch break, or catch a yoga class after hours.

  • UAB Walking Trails: More than a dozen routes offering a variety of distances all over the medical and academic campus make it convenient for steppers to walk at work — indoors or out. Visit uab.edu/walk to download and print walking maps.
  • Yoga & Pilates at EACC: Certified instructors offer gentle yoga and Pilates classes four days a week at the UAB Employee Assistance & Counseling Center, free for UAB employees. Visit the EACC Calendar for details.

2. Attend a Heart Month at UAB event

  • Women and Heart Disease Lunch & Learn: Heart disease survivors and WomenHeart representatives Sherron Simmons and Joy O’Neal will share their personal stories, and a UAB female cardiologist will discuss risk factors and answers your questions. Free box lunch for the first 40 attendees.

  • Simple Cooking with Heart Recipe Tasting: The UAB Cardiovascular Institute and the American Heart Association team up to serve tasty samples and distribute a new recipe booklet.
