Membership Rates

  • Type Terms & Conditions Rates
    UAB Student All active and enrolled UAB Students. Student must be enrolled in at least 1 credit hour and must not receive educational assistance. Students have access from the first day of classes of semester until the last day of classes. Students have access during breaks (summer is not considered as a break). Included in student’s tuition
    Visiting Student Students from other institutions that are visiting UAB. Must have ONE Card. $40/Month
    Off Semester Student Students who are not enrolled at UAB for one semester but plan to enroll at UAB the following semester (i.e. summer semester).  $80/Semester  $40/Month  $20/2 Weeks
    Students receiving educational assistance UAB Employees that are receiving educational assistance. Educational assistance does not include UAB University Recreation membership. Must purchase one of the UAB Employee membership options.

  • UAB University Recreation offers 1 to 9-week long memberships for external groups who are part of a UAB Summer Program (i.e.: SPIN, SHPEP, REU Program, Breakthrough Birmingham, PARAdiGM, KURE); or for groups staying on campus at UAB’s Residence Halls.

    All memberships for external groups that qualify into this category must be approved and processed at least 14 days in advance by the Coordinator of Membership.   • Fill out and submit your Membership Agreement to Member Services at the Welcome Desk.

    New Primary Member:

    For membership eligibility, please check the Membership Options above. In order to sign up for a membership, you must completely fill out and submit the Membership Agreement in person at Member Services. Make sure that you read the agreement thoroughly. You will need to read and initial the box on the front page, fill out Section A. (Primary Member Information), select which membership fits your needs the most in the Section D. (Membership Type). Then, indicate form of payment in Section E. If you are interested in renting your own locker, please indicate Yes or No in Section F. Lastly, please be sure to read Section G.; Assumption of Risk and University Recreation Policies and sign and date the agreement.

    Adding a sub member to an existing member:

    For membership eligibility, please check the Membership Options above. In order to add a sub member to an existing membership (i.e. adding a Household or a Minor to a Student membership) the Primary Member (the Student, in this example) must completely fill out and submit the Membership Agreement. Make sure that you read the agreement thoroughly. The Primary member will need to read and initial the box on the front page. Primary Member will need to fill out Section A. (Primary Member Information). The Household or the Minor information will need to be completed in Section B and/or Section C. Select which membership fits the Sub Member’s needs the most in the Section D. (Membership Type). Then indicate form of payment in Section E. If the sub member is interested in renting their own locker, please indicate yes or no in Section F. Lastly, please be sure to read Section G. Assumption of Risk and University Recreation Policies. University Recreation requires the signature of both, the Primary and the Sub Member. Please be sure that all parties sign and date the Membership Agreement. For more details, please see Step 3 below.

    Note: The Primary member is responsible for the behavior and payment of the sub member. Any balance created by the sub member will prevent the Primary member from accessing the Campus Recreation Center until all fees are paid.

  • Depending on your payment preference, include...

    Paying in full up front:

    You can pay in the form of a check, cash, Blazer Bucks, Visa, Master Card, American Express, or Discover. We will set expiration date exactly on the same day at the end of your membership term. (i.e. 12 Month membership purchased on October 4, 2019 will have expiration date on October 4, 2020; 3 Month membership purchased on October 4, 2019 will have expiration date on January 4, 2020.

    Paying monthly via Payroll Deductions:

    If you qualify for payroll deductions, you will have to fill out and submit the Payroll Deductions Authorization Form. At the time of signing up you will have to pay the first 2 months up front. You can pay in the form of a check, cash, Blazer Bucks, Visa, Master Card, American Express, or Discover for the first 2 months.

    Note: Payroll deductions are available only for UAB Employee 12 Month and Platinum 12 Month membership types and only to UAB Employees who are paid through ORACLE (04 Irregular, Callahan Eye Hospital and HSF employees are not eligible for payroll deductions.)

    Paying monthly via Credit/Debit Card Deductions:

    Members who qualify for monthly Credit/Debit Card deductions must fill out and submit the Credit/Debit Card Draft Form. At the time of signing up you will have to pay for the first month up front. You can pay in the form of a check, cash, Blazer Bucks, Visa, Master Card, American Express, or Discover for the first month.

    Member paying via Credit/Debit Card must provide UAB Unviersity Recreation with active Credit or a Debit Card for monthly drafts.

    Note: Only one payment type can be selected for all memberships under one Primary Member.

    For Example: Primary Member can have two household members and one minor member. Only one Credit/Debit card can be on file for monthly drafts for all memberships.

    Alternatively, Primary Member can have two household members and one minor member and all memberships can be payroll deducted from the Primary Member’s payroll.

  • Are you adding any Household or Minor Members?

    Note: If you are not adding any Household or Minors, please skip Step 3

    If you are adding a Household member: Please be sure to fill out Section B. Household Member Information (Ages 19 and up). Household must present a proof of the same address as the main member. Household member must sign and date the back of the membership agreement.

    If you are adding a Minor member: Please be sure to fill out Section C. Minor Information (Ages 5-18). Along with your Membership Agreement, you must fill out and sign the Minor Policy and Regulations and the Kid Zone Parent/Guardian Agreement. For more details regarding Minor Policies, please See the Minor Policies and Area Age Restrictions.

  • Review your Membership Agreement and turn it into the Membership Services along with the first payment

    Please make sure the following items have been completed:

    • The box on the top of the first page of the Membership Agreement is initialed
    • All information is filled out
    • If a Household is included or being added, please have a proof of the same address as the Primary Member
    • Depending on your payment, make sure all additional payment authorization forms are completely filled, signed and dated.
