Faculty member Dr. Lucas Pozzo-Miller and UAB GBS graduate Dr. Mary Phillips are highlighted in UAB's Featured Discovery!  Read about it in the UAB SOM News.  Congratulations to both of them and to their collaborators and colleagues involved in this study!

Dr. Vlad Parpura has been inducted as a Fellow of the American Physiological Society (FAPS). The rank of Fellow is reserved to honor distinguished leaders who have demonstrated excellence in science, have made significant contributions to the physiological sciences and served the Society.

Dr. Lucas Pozzo-Miller will serve as Chair of a grant review panel for a Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program. These are vital programs that determine the merit of grant applications specific to DoD-funded topic areas.

Please congratulate Dr. Lynn Dobrunz on final approval of the new Ph.D Program in Neuroengineering at UAB. It takes a multiple years to create a new graduate program/major.

Dr. Dobrunz will serve as co-director of this new graduate program that is thought to be the first of its kind in the country. Of course partners from multiple departments also contributed to these efforts.

Neurobiology primary faculty now serve as graduate program Directors, Co-directors, or Associate Directors for three graduate themes: Neuroengineering (Dr. Lynn Dobrunz), Cell, Molecular, and Developmental Biology (Dr. Alecia Gross), and of course Neuroscience (Dr. Lucas Pozzo-Miller and Dr. Cristin Gavin, Associate Director).
