Tayleur WhiteUAB Comprehensive Diabetes Center Graduate Research Assistant and Ph.D. Candidate Tayleur White was awarded a travel award for the 17th Annual Bioactive Lipids in Cancer, Inflammation, and Related Diseases International Conference.

In order to win the travel award, White’s abstract submission had to score among the top of all graduate student submissions. The Eicosanoid Research Foundation, who sponsors the award, notes that the awards are designed to support and mentor the careers of young scientists by encouraging the submission of an abstract to present their work at this premier international conference on bioactive lipids.

This year, the conference will be held Oct. 30 – Nov. 2 in New Orleans, Louisiana. According to organizers, the goal of the meeting is to promote the exchange of existing knowledge from around the world, fostering new research ventures and interdisciplinary approaches, providing a forum for the dissemination of the latest scientific information.

In addition to being a graduate research assistant in the lab of Sasanka Ramanadham, Ph.D., Tayleur is a scholar of the UAB post-bac PREP Program. The UAB post-bac PREP Program is designed to prepare students to enter competitive graduate biomedical programs.
