Biography

Jaron D. Raper, MD is an emergency medicine physician and Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed his training at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC, where he served as Chief Resident in his final year. He now serves the UAB Emergency Medicine residency as assistant program director, and has been core faculty at UAB since 2018. Dr. Raper’s academic interests include innovative simulation practices and the acute diagnosis and management of patients suffering from pulmonary embolism, with a focus on appropriate triage and disposition. In addition to his responsibilities at UAB, Dr. Raper also serves as an executive board member for the Alabama chapter of ACEP. Dr. Raper was recently designated by national ACEP as a “Young Physician Leader” in the state, and in 2022 he was honored by the Council of Residency Directors in EM as “Best Speaker” at their national conference in San Diego.
