The UAB Comprehensive Addiction in Pregnancy Program (CAPP) was established by the UAB division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine in 2017 to provide an environment in which women suffering substance use disorders during pregnancy and postpartum can experience recovery through comprehensive, peer supported, multi-disciplinary care.

In a broader effort to bring awareness to the need for care and treatment of addiction in pregnancy, the "Peony Project" was born: 50 paintings in honor of the 50 women who entered UAB's CAPP program in its first year.
