Biography
David Berry, D.O. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. He is a Michigan native who holds a Bachelor of Science in Cognitive and Computational Neuroscience from Michigan State University and received his medical degree and Master of Biomedical Professions at Lincoln Memorial University - DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tennessee. He completed his internship at the Brookwood Baptist Health Internal Medicine Residency in Birmingham, Alabama and his PM&R residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2026, where he served as Administrative Chief Resident.
Dr. Berry joins the department as a physiatrist specializing in Stroke Rehabilitation, Spasticity Management, and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He is passionate about helping patients achieve optimal functional outcomes with the goal of providing individualized, patient-centered care. He works in a variety of clinical settings including consulting at UAB Main Hospital, performing electrodiagnostic studies at Spain Rehabilitation Center, and caring for patients admitted to the UAB Rehabilitation Pavilion.
His research interests include the use of botulinum toxin for targeted management of spasticity and non-medication interventions for pain, such as manual medicine techniques and dry needling. Outside of medicine, he enjoys hiking, reading classical literature, and spending time with his wife.
