Explanatory Notes on the Schedule of the Psychosomatic Medicine Fellow

The general inpatient consultation schedule will be replaced for two weeks during the first six months of the program and for three weeks during the second six months of the program with special concentrated inpatient and outpatient clinical rotations that will meet either a half day every day for a week or a full day every day for a week.

Psychiatric Emergency Medicine
A full day, for one week, twice a year, midway through the first half of the program and midway through the second half of the program

Child/Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatric Consultation Service
A half day, for one week, twice a year, midway through the first half of the program and midway through the second half of the program

Geriatric Inpatient Psychiatry
A half day a week, for one week, twice a year, midway through the first half of the program and midway through the second half of the program

Palliative Care Inpatient Psychiatric Consultation Service
A full day, for one week during the second half of the program

Outpatient longitudinal clinic rotations are scheduled for Fridays. These will meet for one-half day a week for the whole twelve months of the program and will be scheduled either in the mornings or the afternoons and depending on coordination with these clinic sites and faculty. As an alternate to Friday mornings and afternoons these clinics may be scheduled on Monday mornings or afternoons, Wednesday mornings, Thursday mornings, or as shown, Friday mornings and Friday afternoons. Because of didactic rotation scheduling, they will not be scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesday afternoons, or Thursday afternoons. These longitudinal outpatient clinic rotations are:

UAB Neurology Outpatient Clinic, a half day a month for twelve months

Family Practice Outpatient Clinic, a half day a month for twelve months

Diabetes Mellitus Management Clinic, a half day a month for twelve months

HIV/AIDS Outpatient Clinic, a half day a month twice a month for twelve months

Transition Outpatient Clinic, a half day a month for twelve months

Psychosomatic Medicine Follow-Up Clinic, a half day a month twice a month for twelve months
