Join UAB Department of Biology for Darwin Day 2025 on Feb. 13

Darwin Day is an annual celebration recognized internationally in honor of the birthday and legacy of the historically renowned biologist Charles Darwin.

Darwin Day streamFrank Rosenzweig, evolutionary geneticist and current leader of the NASA Interdisciplinary Consortia for Astrobiology Research team will give the keynote address.Commemorating Charles Darwin’s contributions to modern science and society, the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Department of Biology is hosting its 13th annual Darwin Day on Thursday, Feb. 13.

The event, which will be held at the Margaret Cameron Spain Auditorium, will feature a research poster session, a reception and a keynote lecture by Frank Rosenzweig. Rosenzweig is an evolutionary geneticist and current leader of the NASA Interdisciplinary Consortia for Astrobiology Research team. He will deliver the lecture “Reliving the History of Life using Experimental Evolutionary Genomics.”

Poster sessions and reception begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by a lecture at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
